Welcome to the VB-MAPP Assessment Area! Here’s a full walkthrough of how to navigate and use the platform effectively:

🖥️ 1. Overview Section

  • When you first enter the assessment area, you will land on the Overview page.

  • This page shows a summary of your learner’s assessment.

  • You'll also see Highlights — if there are any improvements in operants compared to the previous assessment, they will be displayed here.

Tip:

  • To move to the Milestones scoring area, simply click the "Milestones" tab located on the left-hand menu.

🎯 2. Milestones Scoring Area

  • Inside the Milestones area, you’ll find an Operant Selector on the top-right of the screen.

  • You can switch between different operants (e.g., Mand, Tact, Listener Responding, etc.) from there.

✍️ 3. How to Score Milestones

  • To score a milestone:

    1. Click anywhere inside the milestone box (the question you want to score).

    2. A popup will appear showing the scoring criteria.

  • Some questions may have different scoring rules, so ensure you review the guide information available inside the scoring popup.

Important:
Always refer to the Guide Button inside the scoring popup to help you choose the correct score based on the official VB-MAPP guidelines.

🧩 4. Understanding the Buttons (Play, Known, Notes, Guide)

You'll see four helpful buttons in the scoring popup:

Button

Purpose

▶️ Play

Shows a video example of how to assess the operant.

📚 Known

Lets you add "Knowns" for the learner.

📝 Notes

Add custom notes related to that particular milestone.

📖 Guide

Displays official VB-MAPP guidance for that milestone.

What are "Knowns"?

In the VB-MAPP, a "Known" means a skill or item the learner has already mastered.

  • Knowns are skills the learner can reliably perform without full prompting, based on observation, previous testing, or past assessments.

  • You mark something as a known if the learner already demonstrates that skill.

Real-life example:
If the milestone says "Label 10 common animals" and the learner already correctly says "dog," "cat," and "cow,"
then those are considered knowns — they already know them and don’t need to be taught again.

🧭 5. Navigating Other Sections

At any time, you can use the left-hand side menu to move between other areas:

  • Barriers Assessment

  • Transitions Assessment

  • EESA (Early Echoic Skills Assessment)

  • Task Analysis

You also have access to the VB-MAPP Guide to support you in scoring and understanding milestones.

📈 6. Scoring Grids and Downloads

  • Navigate to the Scoring Grids section using the menu.

  • You'll find grids for:

    • Milestones

    • Barriers

    • Transitions

    • Task Analysis

  • You can download any scoring grid by clicking the PDF option on the top right of the page.

📝 7. Generating IEP Reports

  • The IEP Report section is available at the very bottom of the left-hand side menu.

  • It allows you to generate an IEP using the VB-MAPP goals directly from the learner's milestones.
