Overview
The VB-MAPP (Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program) is an evidence-based assessment tool created by Dr. Mark L. Sundberg to evaluate language, learning, and social skills in children—particularly those with autism or other developmental disabilities. Grounded in B.F. Skinner’s analysis of verbal behavior, the VB-MAPP helps clinicians pinpoint a learner’s strengths and barriers, track progress over time, and develop individualized intervention plans.

The VB-MAPP is a comprehensive assessment tool that measures 170 critical verbal and social skills, identifies 24 common barriers that may impede skill acquisition, gauges readiness for less restrictive learning environments, breaks complex behaviors into teachable steps, and generates clear, data-driven goals and placement recommendations for IEPs or treatment plans.
